Assalamualaikum,
A couple of days ago, a friend of mine posted this link on Facebook, which touches on the misleading hadith about the rewards associated with performing terawih prayers on each night of Ramadhan. Then it hit me, well not really hit me, I've been thinking about this for a while, its just that after reading this link I decided to write about it, should we really be concerned about what rewards we get for our good deeds?
The most well known quantitative reward for ibadah that I know of, is that jemaah prayers are 27 times better than individual prayers. Other than that, I've heard of other qualitative comparisons, like mentioned in the link above, how not performing Asar prayers is equivalent to destroying the ka'abah. I'm sure there are many others I haven't heard about.
My point here is this; some of these are true, others may not be, nonetheless, as Muslims who believe that Allah is Al-Adl, Maha Adil, All-Just, we should not worry about what the rewards are for our ibadah, all we need to know is that we will definitely receive what we deserve.
If all the rewards were known to humans, we would definitely be calculating which ibadah we can afford to miss, and which we can't. Which is why I believe it is better to just perform all ibadah with a pure, sincere heart, without worrying how much of a reward we will get.
Allah is Al-Adl, He will reward us with what we deserve. Don't worry about comparing rewards metaphorically. Just stay sincere and insyaAllah all will be fine.
