Assalamualaikum,
Living in a country like Malaysia, even Singapore where there is a healthy mix of people from different races and religions, we should really be open to the different religious practices of others. I'm not saying we must agree, accept or embrace the practices of other religions, but we should definitely respect them no matter how we feel.
I know most people do, but there are still a small few who seem to be unable to tolerate even the smallest of religious displays in public. Like this guy who complained when a McDonald's played the azan when it was Maghrib. He apologised in the end, so no real harm done. But it just goes to show that there are still some people who fail to tolerate even the smallest things.
When its Chinese New Year, radio stations and shopping complexes play Chinese songs. When its fasting month, during Maghrib restaurants play the Azan on the radio. During Deepavali, you can normally find rice art (sorry, lack of a better term) on the floors in shopping complexes. These are all just small displays of religious celebrations that don't really bother anybody. There really is no need to rant about them.
Lets not make mountains out of molehills shall we?
