"And to be on a James Bond film as a Muslim Asian woman, would not just open up doors for me but break down barriers for other people as well.
"That would be the biggest thing I could achieve."
Assalamualaikum brothers and sisters,
So what do you think? The next Bond film might just feature a Muslim woman in the role of a Bond girl for the very first time! I can't tell you how excited I am about the possibility of it becoming a reality! I mean, a Muslim woman in a Bond film! That has got to be one of the greatest achievements for the Muslim world in recent history! She really is gonna bring a lot of joy to the Muslim world with this accomplishment don't you think? Her contribution to the ummah will be one that will be difficult to beat or even match! What a woman she is. I totally respect and look up to her for this possible contribution she might make.
In case you haven't noticed by now, that paragraph was overflowing with sarcasm =p
So, a Muslim woman comes out and proudly claims that she wants to be the next Bond girl. Anybody with even the slightest amount of common sense I think would agree with me that this woman ought to be locked up for life. Just for her comment alone. I mean, it's bad enough we have woman who are Muslim, involved in show business, you know movies, music, fashion etc, but to proudly claim to the world "I'll be Bond's first Muslim girl", that to me, is just writing your own private invitation for an all-access pass straight into hell. She said how this would be the greatest thing she could achieve. Well if that's the case, and if this is what the public sees in the Muslim community, I think were in deep trouble.
So apart from this ***** who wants to contribute to the ummah by getting intimate with Daniel Craig in front of a camera, the main point I want to get across in this post is, what are YOU contributing to the ummah?
It doesn't matter how big your contribution is, or how insignificant you might feel it to be, because any contribution you make for the betterment of the ummah, it will be noticed by The All-Mighty.
"Then shall anyone who has done an atom's weight of good, see it!"
Quran 99:7
Big or small, to your friends or family, private or public, it doesn't matter to whom or how you contribute, anything you do for Islam and for Allah, you will be justly rewarded.
This woman wants to be remembered as the first Muslim Bond girl? So be it. She will get her just rewards. Here in Malaysia, our Muslim celebrities want to be remembered for their contributions to Malaysia's entertainment industry with their music, movies and all that, so be it. I'm sure all of that will help them when Judgment Day comes.
Ask yourself, what do you want to be remembered for? Ibnu Sina is remembered for his contributions in medicine, and showing the world back then that Muslims were the educational benchmarks. Saidina Abu Bakar is mostly remembered for uniting the ummah after the Prophet (PBUH) passed away, thus avoiding the downfall of Islam. Saidina Umar al-khattab, remembered for his fearless and never ending courage fighting for Islam on the battlefield. Bilal, tortured just for being Muslim by his owner. Yet he never once considered renouncing his faith in Islam and in Allah, a true inspiration to all of us.
So think for yourselves, how you want to contribute to Islam, and how you want to be remembered. Do you want to be remembered along the same lines as Abu Bakar, or in the same category as Zara? You decide.
